Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank - http://www.pittsburghfoodbank.org/donate/donate_food.aspx
The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank provides food to needy families in the Pittsburgh area. There are multiple distribtuion sites, as well as opportunities to volunteer repacking food or distributing it. We are always looking for groups to do food drives: contact Patty Van Dillen at 412-460-3663, ext. 209.
 
A faith-based advocate for those in need of decent shelter by constructing and renovating simple, decent, affordable housing. For more information, contact the Beaver County Habitat Office at 724-846-1630.  
  • Blitz and reconstruction projects
  • Groups 10-12; one day committment

Hosanna Industries
A faith-based program based in Rochester, PA provides construction services for needy neighbors. Volunteers are always needed to help. There are projects going on all year. A major need is donations to fund the projects.

  • Expertise is welocme, but all ages and all abilities are needed (including kids).
Hot Metal is a faith-based community on the South Side of Pittsburgh that serves the vulnerable. For more information, contact Mike Holohan at 412-481-4010 or hotmetal@hotmetalbridge.com. Opportunities to help include:
  • The Table: prepare and serve a meal for 80-90 people; Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 4:00-7:00pm; main course meal with side dish, salad or fruit and dessert. This can be a one-time effort or an ongoing project.
  • Packed Lunches: Small group delivers lunches to homeless on South Side on Saturdays from 12:00-3:00pm. To schedule a day to help, contact Margeaux Monsour at monsour.margeaux@gmail.com.
Impact Kits
Impact Kits are developed from conversations with area shelters, Light of Light Rescue Mission and Salvation Army. Each kit provides specific items to a variety of different individuals in need. School, Infant, Hygiene, Underwear, Adult Learning, Bedding, and other kits are needed. Click here for a list.

New Hope Feeding Kitchen
New Hope Feeding kitchen is part of a three church cluster including Calvary UMC and Church of Our Savior that serve the homeless and people in need. To volunteer to help or for more information, contact Gretchen Hulse at 412-523-4812. 
 
Pittsburgh Project
The Pittsburgh Project partners with Hot Metal in Pittsburgh to help elderly residents and uphold the dignity and vulnerability of homeowners. There are a variety of opportunities available to help, but usally home repair. Opportunities are very flexible to fit schedule and size of group. Pleasant Valley Men's Shelter (North Side Common Ministries)
 
A non-profit community based organization, established in 1982 by thirty local churches to meet the needs of the homeless and hungry. To volunteer to help, contact Renee Hill at 412-323-1163 or rhill@ncmin.org.  
  • Prepare and serve a meal for 35-40 men
  • One-time or rotating basis
Connellsville P.U.M.P. (People Under Missions to People)
CACM is an extension of the church to serve people in the Connellsville area who are hurting and in need of support. P.U.M.P. provides home repair for the aged, those in poor health, and people with limited financial means. Location: 201. E. Fairview Ave., Connellsville, PA 15425. Contact Rev.   • Group projects may include roofing, porch repair, painting, building wheelchair ramps, etc.
  •  Projects last 5 days but are flexible
  • Most needs are in the summertime
  • Groups can say “when” and the number of days they can commit to
  • Cost is involved to assist with materials 
VOICe Meals
 
Victime Outreach Intervention Center provides free and confidential services to individuals and families who are survivors of violent crimes. Join a team to serve 8-25 women and children by preparing ready-to-eat meals; no serving or cleanup (use non-returnable containers).
  • Volunteers needed to join already formed teams: contact Stacy Markle (coordinator) at slmarkle03@yahoo.com
  • Teams of 3-6 volunteers prepare a meal once every 3-4 months
  • Teams prepare a meal for the 2nd Tuesday of each month
